Magnifying Text

Sometimes all a learner needs is to have the text larger to enable them to read it.

There is a good magnifier in the Windows Ease of Access Centre. In Microsoft Word, changing the view to WebView will allow the text to be magnified but it will still ‘wrap’ within the screen.

Adobe Reader has a number of built in features to make reading on screen much easier. These include magnification and reflow.

There are a number of very efficient commercially available screen magnifiers. The type and format of the magnification can vary according to the needs of the learner. It is important that a full assessment of need is carried out and a product is trialled before purchase as each individual will have a different way of working. The most popular commercially available magnification applications are Zoom Text and Super-Nova.
